Default Went back to a wedge...for a day.

I learned on a hollow, I like hollows, and I love my Dovo's. I pulled out my W&B the other day and did a touchup on it to bring it back to it's atom-splitting status and went for a shave. I have to tell you that I don't think I like wedges. I like the feel of a hollow and when it comes across a hair it doesn't like, they generally just jump over it with a little, 'no biggie, we'll get that one next time.' but the wedge just bullies it's way through the beard...it has a, 'I'm going to destroy you' kind of attitude that my face doesn't like and after nearly 8 months, I think I can safely say...I don't like them, but they just so darned pretty to look at that if the price is right I buy them anyway

I like both hollow and wedge razors, and the things in between.
Hollows are much easier to hone though

Like Bruno, I like to mix it up. I started out leaning toward heavy grinds, and now I lean toward very hollow singing-type razors. But I switch back and forth because the heavier grinds are still just cooler somehow.

I love the heft, size, traditional curvy-ness, and the forgiving nature of the heavier grinds. But I do find them harder to hone, and I have much less "feel" when stropping a heavy grind as opposed to a full hollow.

But strangely, the biggest advantage(?) I find with full hollows is the acoustics of the shave. Wedges and quarter-grinds tend to be very quiet whisker-squeegees. I find that the louder hollows give me an extra degree of acoustic feedback that I find useful during a shave when I'm trying to get BBS.

It's funny how we change. When I first tried a true full hollow, I *hated* that sound, and was almost shocked by it. But now I love it, and think "Yeah, baby!" when I hear it. Can't explain it.
