"Taham Manifacturier", information needed

So...Less then one our ago I saw a set of two straights marked:
"Taham (or possibly Tahan)
Manifacturier"
on the tang, with modest pitting and a small chip on the bigger blade but some rust near the pivot pin, and modest pitting; both round point. The handles seem to be celluloid or possibly ivory, I'm not sure...:confused:

With the razors goes a little and thin paddle strop.

I don't know if I will buy the razors (I don't know the price and if the scales torn out to be Ivory i don't think I can afford the set, unfortunately...), but sure I will try to take pictures in the next few days.

The question is have you ever heard of this manufacturer before? does any of you know if the rhese razors will be good shavers?

so...here are the pics, as promised. I'm sorry for the poor quality of the pics, I'm not a really good photographer.
The paper underneath the razors has squares of 1cm (for those not familiar with metrics 2.54cm=1 inch, just as a reminder), so the blades are 7/8 or even 15/16 (unfortunately I didn't have a caliper with me).
As you can see from the tang the razors are marked "TAHAN MANUFACTURIER", so I guess they were made in France. They both are 1/4 hollow, round point. The scales are really thin, less then 1.5mm thick.
Any information is really welcome.

I'm not familiar with the name but regardless. They look to be nice restorable blades. I would spend a few bucks on them knowing there is still a bit of work needed to bring them up to snuff.

There was a Tahan in Paris, France - suppliers to Napoleon III. Alphonse Tahan was a master cabinet maker, making tables, boxes, etc in ebony and inlaid woods, as well as small caskets, humidors and other small items. His son took over the company. A lot of their work dates between 1850 and 1875. I have only seen furniture by them, so I don't know if they made those razors, but the "manfacturier" on the tang is french and the date of the razors looks about right. There is an inlaid pierced metal box on record, so they did work in materials other than wood.

As it is against forum policy to give appraisals, we cannot help you here. You might consider looking at public trading sites to determine a rough value for similar razors, however you ultimately must make your own decision about what they are worth to you, and proceed with that offer.
