New Use For My Hair Dryer
Ladies and gentlemen:
I finally discovered a new role for my old hair dryer which, for sentimental reasons, I had stored away with other sweet reminders of my youth. I must admit, it has been quite a while since I found use for it. After all, what's left of my once handsome crown you can blow dry with a sneeze.
Lately I have used the cool-air feature on the ancient hair dryer to blow dry the straight razor's pivot area when, by chance, it has gotten wet. A long time ago the noble Lynn Abrams told to keep the razor's handle dry. I do. Now and then, though, water seeps into the pivot area. Who knows why?
Of course, after the shave, I thoroughly dry the razor, strop it, oil it and, after a couple hours of leaving it partially open to air dry some more, place it in the rack. When I suspect water has gotten into the pivot area, sometimes I use dental floss to remove it. Now the ancient hair dryer has been added to my razor drying arsenal.
If you struggle to keep the razor's pivot area dry, you might want to use a hair dryer to take care of the problem. Of course, I don't recommend hot air; rather, use the cool air feature. If you don't have a hair dryer, I suggest being extra nice to the dearly beloved so that she will let you use hers.
Regards,
Obie
