I was thinking the Revisor or Le Grelot but what northpaw says about going lightly used might be a better value for the money. The important thing is that you know what you're doing and I think you do. If I was looking at ebay I would make sure the seller had a return policy. No "as is" razors.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The new/old stock Gotta's just showed up a few years ago and are very rare. The Friodurs are limited to what is presently on the market and there will be no more of the big ones.

Herr Nienberg's Le Grelot 6/8's are fantastic.

My instant reaction was to go for the Gotta, too. Rumour has it (three independent sources, so there may be some truth to this, after all) that there are literally thousands of NOS Friodurs out there. They have been showing up in batches of 10 on eBay recently, and I would refuse to pay more than USD 100 for one, unless it had custom scales I like (not likely...).

Surprised, but glad to see you'd recommend sheffield steel

I just don't like the look of the big Friodurs for some reason. I think the curve at the heel is different from other razors and it looks kind of ugly to me. They're also very plain and the custom scales they come with aren't what I like...
I think it's either gonna be that Gotta or something really really nice that I'm keepin an eye on. The "really really nice" razor though is likely to go way out of my price range (no, it's NOT a Filarmonica)
