No I didn't buy. Figured I'd get this shave kit I saw
Yeah, I fell for the cheap price and nice pic in an online catalogue. My first razor was a Kriegar and trying to shave with it was a painful experience :banghead:. I haven't looked at it since I started str8 shaving. I pulled it out after reading this thread and I definitely see what everybody is talking about. I have no honing experience but can see the horrible grind in the razor. It may have only been nine bucks but I wish I had put that money toward something better. Even a walmart boar's brush would have been a better buy. I have worn mine out and still use it while I have never found a good use for the Kreigar!
I have found several $10 razors that are really nice pieces that don't need restoration including a mint Tuckmar for $1 that I got at an antique show. I also got a 6/8 Worcester razor that had never been honed and in perfect condition for $8 and it shaves beautifully. They're out there, keep looking. Junk belongs in the landfill and they're full enough.
