New Henckels Razors
Hello all,
Has anyone had any experience with the new Henckels Friodur razors? They are a little bit on the expensive side, but they suit my tastes more than what Dovo and Thiers Issard do. I was just wondering if they are decent shavers. How do they compare to the vintage ones? Thanks for any help.

In my opinion, there just isn't much out that that can realistically compete with a sharp vintage razor

I just got one in from one of the guys for honing, now get this, along with it is a vintage Twins also... So I will hone both tonight after work and test shave them on Sat morning... will come back to this thread and give you my opinion FWIW... :)

Given the price, I think I'd rather get one of the NOS ones on eBay (approx USD 120) and have custom scales made for them.

I considered getting a Friodur from that vendor, but like Robin decided to go the NOS route and got one on Ebay for less.

Thats kinda expensive I would go for the henckels old stock, I really love mine you can get a beautiful spanish point for $169. They look a little nicer than the new ones. I love mine.

To answer your question, I have one, in 8/8, that I have very sharp, and is one of my best shavers, actually. Sometimes a razor just workds real well for you, better than its repuation, and this one does for me. It is my best shaving SS razor. I got one in the basic black scales, and Glen made me some fantastic scales for it.....I like it:http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...rple-haze.html
Now, the NOS ones are pretty sweet, too....anybody got a link they don't mind sharing to them at such great prices???

I have the vintage version and it's great. I'm sure this one is spectacular now that it's re-entered production.

I'm curious, I picked up one of those NOS Henckels, and I noticed that the grind was not very consistent across the blade. Has anybody else picked up one of those 120-160 dollar jobs, and noticed similar?
