I dont like going thru withdrawl in public, it just shows how much of an addict i really am, lolololol
What a strange strange thing HAD is.
For me it is:
One part beauty of the razor
One part scarcity of the razor
One part exclusivity of the razor (I have it, you don't)
One part curiosity as to the shave it will give.
One part challange to restore the razor
One part they just ain't makin no more
You mix these altogether and it's a good thing my wife has co-costodial oversite of our daughter's college funds.
I have this with no other aspect of the hobby.
I find myself just buying razors when they are available if they can be brought to shave ready. I know at some point they will go into the classifieds.
Because;
I noticed a razor with the word "Tuesday" on it.....and it was Tuesday
I always wanted to buy a French razor because my relatives are French
I...........BECAUSE that's why! :D
LOL! just own up to it!
Take Care,
Richard
Being pretty new to this, I only have a couple of razors so far: the Dovo Best 5/8 I ordered for my son after much research and what seemed like an almost universal recommendation for a newbie. The other one I don't officially own yet. Having looked at razor-porn for literally months before spending my hard-earned money, I had developed a fascination with Filarmonicas. Knowing I couldn't afford the $300-$500 Doble Tempe 13's and 14's, I finally saw a 12 in the classifieds from ccgnet (Chris?). I bought it almost instantly, and my wife spirited it away for a Father's Day gift.
Oh, and she has laid down the law that since I've been buying lots of flyfishing gear the last couple of years, no one here gets anything until she gets her $1600 Bernina sewing machine (which she has more than earned, so I'm okay with it
Long-term, I'd like to get at least one representative razor from each famous production center: the W & B swayback "meat choppers" from Sheffield really appeal to me. I'd also love a nice Solingen, maybe a Revizor, Dubl Duck, Wacker, or Henkels Friodur. And let's not forget a nice American or Swedish blade before it's all over. Just what I need, another expensive hobby! I thought you guys all say str8 shaving saves money!
nessmuch, dont scare the poor man off, next thing you know he's gonna be walking down to the seedier side of town, walking up to people and asking if they have a straight razor for him to buy. Either that or pulling up to some street corner wanting to buy them
RAD it does a man good. better living thru aquiring more razors
