Imperial 14 questions

So I wad the only bidder on a razor on eBay a couple weeks ago and I'm not sure of what it is. It was said to be a filarmonica 14, but I didn't see any filly stamps or Anything on the blade to indicate that it was that. On the scales however is the Filly logo, the harp looking thing. The blade shape, and size+grind are the same as a filly 14 but it's stamped Imperial 14, the same way. I'm not too concerned what it is, I didn't expect a filly for $9 but just wondering if Imperial is the brand or if it's a sub-brand of Filarmonica.

I don't know it this brand of razor is affiliated with Filarmonica but I do know that there are a few brands of razors that have the 12 stamp that are not. While not absolute, look at the pins to see if they are factory condition or if they differ. It could be scale swap. What ever it is, for the price it sounds like a good purchase. Pics would be nice. Showing the pins would help.

It doesn't look to be a scale swap, pins are original and look the same as my Fillies. I'm just cleaning it up now, and I'm going to make some ivory Micarta scales. I'd like to know before I go and transfer the inlay to the new scales. Also, it's got a lil bird/eagle type logo on the other side of the tang.

Very interesting question, and a hard one to answer without pictures. From your description, your razor blade could have been made by A. Kastor and Bros, who used the Imperial trademark (among many others!) The bird stamp on the tang puzzles me, since my references did not show it registered to Kastor. Can't tell about the Filarmonica scales without pictures. This sounds like a Manah question; hope he reads this and educates us all!

Croaker, you're right. It's difficult to answer without pictures. Handle and the blade, possible, from different makers.
I didn't hear about Filarmonica trademark - Imperial.
Imperial Razor Co., the owner was Adolf Kastor(Castor).

I'm working on taking some photos, but they turn out pretty hard to see any markings. I'm making a lightbox tonight so I'll put some up soon, but I don't really see how they'll help. I really just want to know if filarmonica ever made an Imperial line, at best with photos and no info it will just be a "lookalike".
