I recently purchased a razor from an antique store near my home. It is in very good condition as far as I can tell. I looking it up on the internet the other day and came up empty handed. The razor is a 4/8 Carl Rader. It also says Solingen Germany 117 on one side with a pic of an anchor and 2 flags. the blade says our unrivaled extra hollow ground fully warranted. does anyone have any info in this razor?

as you never got an answer since you have posted your request, I will give you some answer better late than never... hope you still own this SR to get them in time to find them useful ... Obvisiously you already have all significant infos on the tang of your SR...
CARL RADER (Flags-Anchor) and his father Hugo Rader (Two Jugs) operated one of the smaller, but nevertheless well known backyard razor-making businesses in Solingen.
They made many razor blades for the Export market as your #117 and the one #117 for the french market I own myself.
In addition to yours it says "Fabrique en Allemagne" in the footline on the golden blade etching.
Your "4/8in French Tip" razor seems what has been left from a orign 6/8in Round Tip razor after years of usage. The etching on yours has lost its golden colour.
My own #117 is a bit larger, I would say a 9/16in if not only a real 5/8in if you take the original PRUSSIAN or SOLINGER INCH for measurement, that is a bit more than the US-Inch.
Both razors should have been produced in the early 1930s to 1940s prewar WW2. In 1957 Carl Rader was taken over by DOVO.
