Why does everyone think so highly of Puma and Filarmonica other than the "antique" factor? Remember opinions, like people, vary. I own 2 TI's and 2 Wacker both high end precision shavers. Not trying to bash anyone's personal favorites, just curious as to why they are kept in such high regard.

The vintage Pumas and fillys, ducks, C-mons .... others too numerous to list were great shavers. Simple as that.
Puma's and Filly's have repeatedly shown themselves to be very smooth shavers. When statements such as these are made by people to whom others listen, they are likely to be believed and repeated. Good old word of mouth.
Other than the "antique factor" there is the "guy that dies with the most/best toys wins" factor. Need I say more?
Does it have to be the same toys??? If so I'm in trouble as I only have a few dozen of any one group, but LOTS of groups :p:medvl:Quote:

Ive also been rather fond of Robeson Suredge razors and shaved with as many of them as the Ducks but have had about 80% luck with them, some are just not there...
So the Ducks trump Robeson... but i still like the Robeson over the Ducks by just a little...

I have not shaved with Puma or DD but i have Filly 14 and it is just excellent shaver. I have many other brands that shave at least as well as Filly and some do it maybe even better so to me Filly with ugly blue scales is just one of my shavers.
There are people these days who are willing to pay idiotic prices for simple everyday tools, such as straight razors. It is only natural that they also keep telling how superb shavers they get; you wouldn't admit that it is not so hyper special after you've paid about 200 € to get it. The word spreads from internet sites and then the prices go up. Simple as that. It is somewhat easy to find out which brands get expensive next.
Some brands just have the reputation of being some kind of holy grails. Maybe good shavers but highly overrated i think. You can get a good shave from many many other brands as well.
Some people seem to think that Filly or Puma owners were the only ones that got BBS and the rest of the world were doomed to live with hairy faces and less than perfect shaves.
At least NOS Filly sellers have fun these days.
