Ran across a C-Mon Blackie (C. Monkhouse version, not the PJM version) the other day but it had basic generic scales. Did the Blackie only have the inlayed scales, or did it come in the generic scales as well?

I've seen several with generic scales.Don't know for sure but I suspect these would be the older ones.
I have two C-MON "Blackies": one made in Germany, and one made in Ellicottville, NY. Both have inlaid scales. I am always suspect of a C-MON razor with "generic" scales, and quite simply do.not.believe. that they (the scales) are original.
Why does it matter if the replacement scales are cheap replacements, so long as the replacement was well done and the scales are functional? It's not as if you shave with the scales. Just my 2c
I have seen C-MON with basic scales which look to be original. As an example, look at the difference between a DOVO Prima Klang and a Best Quality...
...and like Holli said, why is it a big deal if the scales were replaced? A C-Mon Blackie is a very fine blade!
If the price is right I'll take all the blackies you have even with the cheapest plastic scales in the world.
