should i buy henckels?
Recently saw a video by Lynn and he said he had lots of good things to say about J.A. Henckels' straight razors. I am shopping around online wondering how much i should spend on my first razor. Found one on Amazon.com for $149, which seems like a good price. Is this likely to be a good product?

how much are you selling it for?

Post a link. There's not enough info to supply sensible advice.
Firstly, on the whole, Henckels are great. Are you looking at carbon steel, or Inox Friodur?
From what I've read, the new generation are not up to the quality of the older ones, & have proved to be a disappointment, so a link will help clarify.
Edit. Ok. It's going to be similar to this, right?
I personally wouldn't. You could get a decent vintage, or even a so called "NOS" Friodur for around that money. If you're after new & a starter, think Dovo & Revisor. They both offer quality at the right price to get in to this.

I have yet to see a Vintage Henckels that didn't perform well. I own several vintage Henckels and they all are superb quality razors that keep their value. As long as they are vintage I would say go for it. The one from Amazon is a newer production ones. They are OK but not comparable to the older vintage ones.

A few month old thread about one of the new Henckels.

If you find a vintage one, definitely buy it (Lynn is talking about the vintage ones in his video, as, IIRC, the new Henckels weren't even out at the time). New ones, I would pass on them unless it was just to try one for myself (curiosity killed the bank account....).

I cant speak for the new production J.A.Henckels but I have a few vintage ones and they are top notch shavers

Yes, vintage is the way to go. Better shaves and if you are patient and look around, less money.

+1 on vintage. Suh-weet shavers they are, but I've not heard such good things about the newer ones.
If you want a new blade, +1 on Dovo or Boker, and I've heard good things about Revisor as well.

Should I Buy Henckels?
Hello, Matthew:
Like my friend Stubear, I, too, would add the Revisor to the Boker and the Dovo as your best bets for now.
