Does anyone have the Micarta? If so Do you oil it like a Carbon? Can anyone tell me any info about it. I've Got the Tortoise 5/8, I'm thinking after 6-8months it's going to be time to upgrade to something nice. Thank you all for your time.se Shell 5/8"mitation Tortoise Shell 5/8"
Stainless will also rust although much slower than carbon.
To be on the safe side oil it just like any other razor.
dovo micarta i had one they are in my opinion very well unbalanced the scales are round and heavy it makes the razor feel top heavy. i sold it for that reason . upgrade to a 200 euro livi i have two of them and they are inox and perfect in every way
Actually, I like this razor and they are very nice shavers. You do have to get used to the round handle though if you are used to the flat plastic or bone ones. Really just a personal preference thing. I don't find them cumbersome at all. I normally put Camellia oil on mine when I put it up for a while.

I also sold my Dovo Micarta razor due to the fact that the scales were to heavy. I could never get the stropping right. Beautiful razor though

I have two (2) Dovo EnVogue micarta scaled razors. They are super shavers :)
The scales, in my opinion are too bulky, but as Mr Abrams has said, you do get used to them.
They are very easy razors to maintain and hone. I find then truly excellent for use as a daily razor. Mine have had the most use of all the razors in my rotation.
I give all my razors, carbon & stainless, a wipe over with Sentry Solutions TufGlide after they have dried post shave.

I have one and love it. It shaves great and I personally enjoy the shape of the scales. I've thought about buying a set of them.
Go ahead and apply some oil to the blade after you use it. It won't hurt anything.
Better to be safe than sorry.
I have a Dovo White Micarta, and I really like it. True, it feels different in my hand because of the larger, rounded scales, but it's not something that gets in the way of a good shave. As far as caring for it is concerned, I treat it like all my other razors. After shaving, rinse in hot water and wipe blade (on Kleenex), strop on leather 20-30 times, wipe on a light coat of Camelia oil, and store it outside the bathroom until it comes up next in my rotation. Probably stainless steel razors don't need the same treatment as carbon steel razors, but I treat them all the same, nevertheless.
I have this same razor. It does give a great shave but I also had the same problems with the rounded scales. So I removed them, re-ground them, and put them back on.
As for storage, I keep it the same as all my other razors. After use it gets blown dry with a hair dryer, then stropped. Then it is put away in a room that is almost always air-conditioned.
