Just wondering how you guys set up your rotation. I dont have one. Basically im trying new ones as they unexpectedly show up at my door. :w Or i go back to a trusted one. How many in the rotation? Why you chose them? How often do you change the rotation?

My rotation consists of taking whatever I fancy that morning. Sometimes I rotate according to the blade's country of origin but that's about it.

No rhyme or reason. Every time I set up a rotation scheme I always change it after a time.
I reckon I must have ADD as I rarely shave with the same razor 2 days in a row. As new razors come in the post, they either get used pretty quickly and then go in the rotation selection or if they need honing, they go in the honing pile until I get around to them.
Ditto. It just kind of happens. I try not to use a razor again until I've used all my others first, unless I'm specifically limiting myself to one razor to learn the curves.Quote:

for me, it depends on which day of the week it is....On Sunday, I will pul out my most trusted and sharp..Froe there it goes downhill to ones that I am workingi into the rotation to test their worthyness...
Only three for me. Either Bengall 6/8 round or square point or if I feel like I need a change I go the old W&B chopper.
In the past I used to go through a rotation of about 10 and then add in a few others for good measure but I started feeling it was too extravagant.
I confess, I am a minimalist shaver.

I use one razor a week. For me the week begins Monday morning and goes through Sunday.
This morning ended W&B Bow week and tomorrow starts Robeson Diamond Edge Week
By using each razor for seven consecutive days, I learn more about how the razor responds to stropping and I get a better baseline for its performance and edge holding ability.
This rotation schedule has been very instructive. Sort of the difference between dating and marriage.

wow, lucky you. I wish I had razors unexpectedly arrive at my door. Usually I am impaitently waiting for whichever razor I have recently purchased and greet the mailman as he pulls up to the house. I'll usually keep a spot open in my rotation when I know one is about to arrive so I can try it immediatelyQuote:

I rotate my modest collection of 19 razors. The rotation starts with the Thiers-Issard "Dos Festonne" and follows down the line in the rack with Wacker, Filarmonica 13, Le Grelot, more Thiers-Issards, Bergischer Lowe, Revisor, Dubl Duck, and ends with the Dovo "Renaissance."
I keep two straight razors for travel only, a Wostenholm 4/8" and a Heljestrand 5/8" (both exquisite shavers and in perfect condition) in addition to a Feather Artist Club. Two double edge razors share spots in the rotation at home. A Merkur double edge travel razor (with Muhle-Pinsel shave head) is backup in my roll-up wet pack.
I rarely deviate from the rotation, because I don't want any razor with hurt feelings.

I don't really have a 'rotation'. All my razors can shave well and in the evening, I go to the collection and wait for the right one to 'speak to me'. Some razors speak more than others, but maybe that's just me going crazy... :)
I keep two cigar boxes on my dresser. I take a razor out of one box then store it in the other box. When the taking out of box is empty I switch the boxes around. I just grab whatever razor is on top. Sometimes I will use a razor for more than one day, if that is the case I leave it setting on top of the boxes.

That pretty much sums up both my thoughts and practices on the topic of rotation. Sometimes if I feel that I didn't get enough shaves in during the week (say 2 or 3, for whatever reason), or if I'm dialing in an edge, I will bump it up to 2 weeks use.Quote:

I confess that I must be completely obsessive-compusive... I have a couple of these six-slot pen cases for my razors. I pick six of my favorites for rotation and store the rest. I use them in order each day so that on day seven I am back to razor #1. That way, I don't have a "Monday razor", "Tuesday razor", etc. Occasionally, I will swap in a razor if I make an acquisition.

I just pick whichever razor I want to use that day. It works out fairly well as I find that I want to use a razor I havent used for a while, so I tend to rotate pretty evenly!
Erm... I've got 2 shave ready razors, but I'm pretty 'monogamous'.
Can't remember the last time I used the other razor.
My thinking (I think!) is that I'm working on getting it just right with one razor. Then I might look at getting out the other again.
Of course, now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I might get out my neglected other...

For me I have just 5 razors. I've been trying to see which are my best shavers and which need a better edge. I have one full wedge that I cannot seem to get an edge on that will shave my chin well. All the others are hallow grinds. So Once they a razor well on all points of my face I make a mental note. So far I'm 3 out of 5. 2 need little touch up.
Other than that I have no real rotation.
