please tell me what you think of it and if i should keep it or not. the bevel seems ok, I ran it over my 8k hone a couple of times and stropped it. didn't shave with it yet though.
Is this your only razor to shave with? I think it looks like it could clean up very well. I'd get it shave ready and see how you like it. I've kept worse:)

I've got a Dovo Black Star and a kayser ellison sheffield silver steel razor.
I've got the Dovo brandnew and the kayser ellison used from an online auction. both shave very well, as far as i can judge that, being the n00b i am.
/EDIT: LOLOLOLOL i did a google image search for "silver ring razor" and like a quarter of the images that show up depict actual finger rings with nazi embles on them... WTF?
Has the look of a decent razor, but I must confess my ignorance -- what is P.P.L.?
Cleaned, polished, honed, that should be excellent; garbage razors don't usually come in 3-pin scales.
i cannot tell if it's excellent or not. however, it does shave the hair on my arms very well ;-)
I have already honed and stropped it. I cleaned the blade with alcohol and this is what it now looks like:

Is there any benefit of polishing other than looks? I guess it's shave ready (feel free to prove me wrong) but I would really have to try out to be able to compare it to my dovo / kayser ellison.
(yes i know, i should clean my kitchen.)

It appears to me as if "you done good" -- it looks like a really good razor, especially for the price. Congratulations!

You may need to reset the bevel at 1K or 4K but a modern fast

Indeed this is the source. the other two razors are in pretty bad shape though. Weber & Rusch Rheineck was the box it was delivered in. "Rheineck" describes the trinational area at the rhein river consisting of france, switzerland and germany, which essentially means basel, the town i'm living in.Quote:

I think it's an excellent razor. I shaved with it yesterday evening and it gave me one of the greatest shaves I've ever had.
Then again, keep in mind that this is like my 25th shave or so, so I'm not in the position to truly judge things.
I am going to keep it for sure though.
