Holy Frog, Batman! Is this an Geroeso razor?
Just acquired an interesting razor, which I am absolutely stumped on and am not sure that the scales are correct for the blade. The scales have 3 pins, silver bolsters, and a neat inlaid silver logo of a smiling frog holding an open straight razor. The blade is also nifty, but I am not sure it is original to the scales. It is a heavy French (I think) point shoulderless blade marked E.A. Special on the tang, and "Magnetic Diamond Steel Fully Guaranteed" etched on the blade. The opposite side of the tang is stamped "Best Steel". The blade does not fully close in the scales: the third pin touches the shoulderless heel of the blade, keeping it from fully closing. Maybe the scales have shortened, I don't know. Does anybody know for sure if the Geroeso and E.A. Special markings go together? I look forward to honing it up and shaving with it, but have not had the time to do so. Thanks in advance!
Geroeso razor with the frog
They made razors for Utica New york which have the same logo but with Utica N.Y. in the little froggy logo.
They probably made razors for various clients so difficult to tell if the blade is original or a frankenstraight.
Both my Utica razors like this have corresponding blades with the number 96 and Utica Knife and razor co on one side
and Made in Germany on the other.
Hope this helps.
