Beautiful Wade&Butcher from the 1880`s!

I happened to comment on wishing a new Straight Razor for Christmas on a cigar forum I`m a member of. A week later I got a fantastic package in the mail from a Gentleman a member of both the cigar forum and SRP. He sent me a very fine Ambrose strop, a 40 year old Robeson ShurEdge 6/8 Straight set up by himself, shaving beautifully, and a wonderful Wade&Butcher Straight from the 1880`s probably made for an English officer in India.

I`m interested in history in general, but having a 130 year old English Razor in my hands looking brand new was a new experience. I thought about the darker sides of the Metropol London with "Jack The Ripper" walking around in Whitechapel, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle sitting by the writing table writing the next Holmes story, Queen Victoria taking a bath while mourning her late husband, you get the picture I think. And now I had this piece of history in my own hand. The blade look`s so unused to me, I wish I had a better camera to show you. I shaved with the W&B yesterday, and man, what a great shaver. Just the weight of the thing, wow, everything I have tried before just blew out of my memory instantly, hehe.

If you have additional information regarding this razor I would be happy to read it.

And Bob, hopefully enjoying the Californian sun, great cigars and BBS straight shaves, thank you very much for sending this wonderful piece of history to cold and far away Norway!

Very nice, I really like the style of blade on the W&B. One of my favorites.

Looks like Glen (gssixgun) might have done those scales. Gorgeous razor.

Really nice razor. Somebody made a good restoration work and nice new scales.
Only one question:

Beautiful restoration jobs and first class honing! Congratulations. BTW, the blade profile on that W&B can be a bear to hone, in my experience. The strop looks almost too pretty to use-tried it yet?

Thank you - yes I have tried the strop, and it made my stropping performance much better in a second. It is so wide and works fantastic compared to the narrower strop I used before. A beautiful piece of leather also, the generosity sent my way is just:mexwave:

Thank you, very nice thread! (I can really say that now:))

Looking at those pictures, well, I really need a better camera. If anyone has any additional information regarding this type of W&B Razor it would be appreciated:)
