Help with ID razor and scale material

Hi y'all,
I just received a razor stamped E GILBERT 52 EDGEWARE RP.
The blade is engraved with Hollow ground razor. The blade is Three inches long by 3/4 wide.
The scales look like whalebone or ivory, sorry I'm brand new at this and can't tell the difference.
It came from the States in a travel set. What the ebay seller described as a nail file was actually a small travel strop!
I'll post a picture when I figure out how to do it!
Any info would be appreciated.
