Wow! There is some great information there to help date some of the older razors.
I found this part to be funny: "Certain blades are almost invariably worthless, such as ... those made by Frederick Reynolds."
Hi. I can't browse that book. Is it available only for u.s. users ?
I happen to own a "worthless", Frederick Reynolds razor. If it were an investment I would be concerned but since I'm only out for good shaves (which said razor delivers on the regular) I just don't much care about resale value, investment or collector appeal.
That is a shame if you can't view it. Perhaps it's a copyright issue in your country. Can you view google books at all?

This is the first time I've actually seen this article though I've seen it referred to in books or articles about razors. Very cool. If it wasn't so old I'd suspect holli4 wrote it. :D I guess the author tried to hone a few F. Reynolds.
Thanks, Miner123! I've seen this famous Lummus article referenced in books and other places, and have always wanted to read it. I stumbled upon a link to a site that sold printed reproductions of it, but lost my link. So, this is a tresaure.
Hehe, yes. And this nugget: "No better shaving instrument than a good old wedge-shaped razor was ever made." Yee-haw! :medvl:
