    Default Solingen/Germany Simbatec Str8 Razor?

Has any one seen or have any knowledge of these razors for sell on eBay? The seller does an impressive out of the box, strop and shave video on his eBay add. Shave ready from factory, strop only before shaving .....really? The word 'Solingen' caught my eye and are supposed to be top notch razors. What do you think guys? Check out link below:

    FWIW --

Even considering the normal level of "retail markup", $38 (the current auction price, 35 minutes left to go) is really low for a new straight razor. "Too cheap to be true" is my uneducated guess.

You'll only know its value, for sure, after you win it and try shaving with it.

    Default Razolution

I bought one of these exactly like the one pictured, bought it cheap from a fairly well-known knife retailer who auctioned it as a close-out. After I received it, the edge felt reasonable, so I stropped it and took it for a ride. Almost a good shave the first time, but not great....that's when things started to go downhill.

As a closeout the knife shop said it had a bit of corrosion. it wasn't a big deal, but I rubbed the tang with a bit of Flitz, and presto(!) the word "Germany" disappeared.Well, that was disappointing, but not the end....
I walked it over to my hones and my magnifying glass, and the real fun began!

To make a long story short, I was simply unable to put a real shaving edge on this thing. I'd get close-----the bevel would feel like it was juuuust about there----then it would break down and disappear, right back to a junk edge. Besides that, the factory bevel was all over the place, thin here, wide there. I evened it up, but to no avail, the edge broke down every time I got it close. In my opinion, just not quality steel.

    The scales are OK.

    Default oh yeah---

Forgot to say, I bought that for $17 just to see what it was like. I can get an edge on pretty much any razor I try, it's not like it was my first time.

There's a thread on 'Badger and Blade' :

Anyone ever heard of Simbatec Razolution razors? [Archive] - Badger & Blade

If there's one for sale, there will be more . . .

Sure glad I didn't bid on it then. Seraphim over on B&B said it looked like a repacked Gold Dollar, I did notice the guy had a few of them Gold Dollars for sell.

I guess the only good thing about this whole deal is I got to watch a guy shave his head....................

Bummer. I really like the carbon fiber scales. I think you guys may have saved me a lot of money and frustration, I was "this close" to ordering
    one through eBay. Thanks. -Norm
