Why this size and grind?
Dovo is still making a 3/8" wedge very similar to the one discussed in timberrr59's "What is this?" thread and also pictured in Sailor's wedge collection. The others were identified as 1820s razors, but it looks like there's still modern demand for this configuration. Below is the modern Dovo. My question is, who uses such a razor today, and why?
And please, somebody, anybody, tell me why I DON'T NEED ONE!
-
Usually hairdressers use them for the cleanup work along the neck etc.
-
So you DON'T need one....Unless of course you're a hairdresser...Or aspire to be one one day...Or you go to a hairdresser on a regular basis and want to take in your own razor for them to do the cleanup work with...:D

That looks to be more hollow than wedgy...
I enjoy shaving with a 3/8 from time to time.

My first razor was a DD Styledge 3/8. It can also do under the nose quite well, not that I have...
Now where is your inner RAD!!!
-
Ahh, it is as I feared. Maybe I need one to shave beneath my nose, before moving on to the rest of my face with the 5/8.
My inner RAD is restless. So is my inner HAD. I already take meds for strops.
-
I would use that for the top of my mustash and gote, fine trim work.
Nice razor by the way

A 3/8 will shave your whole face as easily and cleanly as a 5/8 or a 6/8 or a 7/8 or a 8/8 so long as you hone it properly.
Small razors are a different experience, and variety is the spice of life.
-
You don't need one unless it bothers you that you don't have one, then I guess you do need one.

No true mechanic can be without one of every tool so if you're a true shaver that makes you a face mechanic so you need it.:)
