New Dovo's as good as vintage?

I'm sure this has been discussed a lot on these forums, but how do the new Dovo razors compare to vintage? Is the quality of a new one as good as an old one? Opinions?

I can't say that I have had the privilege of using a vintage Dovo, but I have a new one and it is a really nice shaver. Keeps up with other vintage razors that I have used very nicely.

I own three Fritz Brach era Dovos and find them to be exceptional shavers, better than current production IMO.
That said, current production is quite good. More a matter of degree than anything.

I have one Dovo a modern 125 with ebony handles and I love it. I have no experience with a vintage Dovo but am alway looking for them. The vintage Dovos seem to fetch a high price.

A lot of the old Fritz Bracht's have that extra hollow grind similar to the C-Mon and DD of that era, which really creates a nice sensitive edge that provides great shaves. They are generally pretty easy to hone and maintain as well. I think on some of the, the stock itself feels thinner to me than the current production Dovo's. Nothing wrong with any of the current production Dovo's as shavers, but some of the old ones just have that little bit extra ........

I'm not sure if it's better or just different, but I do really love the Fritz Bracht Dovos. I certainly would not say the current production Dovos are lacking, however.

Got a couple so the recent production and they are real good. The Fritz Bracht era ones are not very good at all. Of the dozen or more that I have ..... I keep buying them out of the goodness of my heart to protect new guys from getting stuck with them. :rofl2:

Let's compare for a second another product out there that lasts as long as a razor does ( very few of those:) )

If you take an older Rifle or Handgun the steel seems to have this dense smoothness to it.. The action if almost buttery, there are many theories as to why this seems to be.. A newer shooting arm is probably stronger, more accurate and built to much better specs, but it doesn't have that "Glow"

I find razors to be much the same, as they age they attain that certain something...

All that BS aside, one of the sharpest razors I have ever owned was a brand new Dovo #105 Frozen Temper in white Micarta with those audacious Zebra stripes down the face of the blade :D OOoooo Baby !!! whiskers just flat ran away from that wickedly smooth edge
