But your instincts for good cutlery makes me thinks it's probably great!
Go 'Gill!
Is it the green scale one made by union cutlery (I think its union)?
Or is it the German made Salamander Works?
According to some reference books this company worked 6 years only, 1920-1926. I got one last year.

Sweet looking one there :)
I've been hoping to land a salamander wedge, heck it's a reptile theamed razor :p
Most will say the wedge has no feedback. It is more subdued, but in some cases it's unmistakable, and very pleasant. My Sheffields are pretty mute - no feedback but good shaves. The Soligens have been very sensitive to the edge they receive. One kind of edge was communicative as heck. Another made it lose it's voice.
That being a soligen - may talk quietly to ya. I hope you enjoy the conversation.
The heavy grinds helped me learn. Although I can really enjoy my hollows now, I still love the heavy grinds - particularly the 1/4 grind. They seem more forgiving - less demanding of technique. Sure that can be bad as well as good, but with confidence, you can learn a stroke you wouldn't have had confidence to try before. I love my wedge & heavy grinds. I hope that blade puts many smiles on your face.
I have a couple of 4/8s salamander wedges they are great shavers.
