Default Ground differences (full, 3/4, 1/2, etc)?

I recently purchased a Dovo full hollow ground razor. After seeing it and experimentally trying to shave part of my arm with it, I'm not sure this is a beginners tool. The paper thin blade makes me a little nervous.

Does anyone have pictures of what a 1/2 or 3/4 hollow blade looks like from a cross section view?

I tried searching google and could not find anything.

    Thanks

    Welcome to SRP.

This link should help you: The straight razor - Straight Razor Place Wiki.

While a full hollow may look paper thin (and it is fairly delicate) it is also a very efficient beard slayer

Thanks. That is a good place to start.

Looking at that, the half hollow and full hollow are about the same, at least near the 1/4 inch of the "edge" of the blade. They both look "paper thin". A 1/4 hollow looks to have less of a paper thin edge.

It doesn't matter what the size or grind of a razor is the very edge your beard sees is paper thin. It has to be that way to cut. Your looking at the razor as a whole is just psychological.
