Should I use a NOS Peaso Special?

I'm a noob, and just bought what appears to be an unused 6/8 Peaso Special 22 with bone scales. From what little I can gather on the internet, they were made in Solingen between WWI and WWII.

So here's my dilemma: Should I use it, or put it away and call it an "investment", or sell it to someone who would appreciate any collectible value and look for something else?

(Tried to take a pic, but it's dark here and the flash ruins them. I'm about to fly out of the country for a few days, if it would be helpful I can take pics on Monday.)

Welcome to SRP. We don't discuss selling here nor can we appraise value on a razor as it as against SRP's rules. OTOH, unless you want to be a custodian for a museum collection I would say use it. The old ones, when honed by a pro, are great shavers. You'll never get rich collecting straight razors , so I wouldn't call it an investment.

Perhaps no truer words have been written.

For what it's worth, if it's worth buying use it and enjoy it, old razors do seem to shave differently to modern ones, not sure why, I love my bengalls wish I could find a NOS I would use it and treasure it (If that's possible) :)

Thanks for the advice, I'll use it in the morning. Just was a little apprehensive about possibly destroying the value of something. My only other straight is a Dovo Bismarck, looking forward to trying something new.

How do you know it is NOS?

I would imagine as far collecting and reselling goes, "The guy I bought it from said it was NOS" doesnt hold water.

Peaso razors are nice.

Maybe it's not. But it's still in the box, and I can't see any sign of use with a magnifying glass.

If you can take good care of it, you should use it. If you can't take good care of it, you should learn how, and then use it.

I understand collecting but Money is just green paper till you spend it you could collect millions but if you dont spend it its worthless. I don't get anything I can't use even if it is a high value. But thats my opinion.

I guess I didn't express myself very well. I'm not a collector. Of anything. I had no illusions that this razor was a museum piece. I just didn't want to be one of those guys who "sporterizes" a mint Winchester Garand or something. Thanks for putting my mind at ease about it.

For me the collectability factor comes from using them :)
