hey,
i've got a new kamisori, a new austrian razor maker done this for me. its his first kamisori like razor. not 100% traditional but i think this will shave well. i have to hone it first. today he sent it away.

Hard to tell in the pics, but it looks like it is going to take a traditional Asymmetrical bevel (Chisel style)...
Would love to see more pics of the edge after you hone it up...
Beautiful looking though, if she shaves half as good as she looks watch out :beer1:

That is a wicked looking piece of equipment! Congrats!

Cool looking razor. I hope it is a straight forward honing session.

Looks very good, keep us posted! :)

The Iwasaki's have a finger rest on them but the notch in your's looks awkward to use. Lets us know about that. I guess the official name of a razor like that would be a kamisori after Western razor.

got my first shave today with this razor. on the pictures it looks pretty small but this is like an axe. 8/8" and nearly 6cm of cutting edge. the thumb notch isnt that dangerous like it looks on the pics.
i done 2 layers of tape on the spine for honing.
than i done my usual progress on my nakayama asagi with mikawa naguras after setting the bevel on my shapton 2k.
the shave was fantastic. have to be careful with this barb. done a little cut. the shave was nearly perfect just with one pass. this is definatly one of my best razors, even my iwasaki has problems doin such a smooth and close shave. its feels definatly different to my other kamisoris but it doesnt feel like a western one either. hard to describe.

What steel was used for this razor?
