Revisor Recommendation

I'm thinking of adding a new razor to my collection and I was wondering if anybody could recommend Revisor over a Thiers Issard, if there is anybody who has both.
I have a Hart Steel spike and a Dovo Bismarck that I both love, and I was thinking of getting a shoulderless half-hollow Revisor 6/8, which would combine my favorite features of my other two razors: the thicker grind of the Hart and the shoulderless Bismarck. But I also saw some TI razors on Classic Shaving that I like.
Has anyone noticed that one brand holds an edge better or is easier to hone than the other? Better balance, etc. I saw something recently about Revisors having brittle edges.
Can anybody give me some advice from their experience?
Also, any advice about ordering from Revisor?

I find the initial honing of TI's can be a bit more time consuming than the average new razor. My experiences have been that they don't come as close to a set bevel from the factory, and the razors seem to be abrasion resistant (or it takes longer to hone them for some other reason).

I have found that Revisors are closer to set bevels from the factory, and have not had any trouble honing them.

I haven't had a chance to play with edge duration, but I would think the TI's would hold well because they seem to me to be harder than the average razor. I would guess the Revisors to be a bit better than average. That part is definitely speculation on my part.

Please keep in mind, I've only played with a handful of new Revisors and maybe two handfuls of new TI's, so I'm not the most experienced out there.

I've had a few TI's (3, anyway) and one Revisor. I used the Revisor more than any of the TI's, although it wasn't as fancy, if you will; to me, anyway, it was more user friendly, especially if you like the Dovo Bismarck, that's what I think I'd go with.

It isn't like the TI won't be in the *next* order....

This may not help a whole lot, but I have two TI's and the Revisor "Seeman". My TI's came already honed, and I only needed to "tweak" the edge of the Seeman I ordered from Revisor, so I can't really speak to the ease of honing them.

As far as shaving goes, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. I like them all.

It just depends on the edge you can put (or have put) on it. I will say that one of the TI's is made from Sheffield steel, and it's buttery smooth.

Just go with whichever razor makes you smile the most. :D

FWIW, I had the chance to shave with a Revisor two weeks ago, and it was brilliant. It was so good, that it's now on the top of the list.

I have not had the opportunity to shave with a TI as of yet.

I have some TI and 2 Revisor.
TI are cooler and better quality. Revisor is a really good product for the price...
I use more the Revisors because I reserve the TI for those days where I have more time for shaving...
I think that well honed, both perform the same

I too, was looking at Thiers-Issard and went with a new Revisor 5-0003 model. What a dream!! Mine was so sharp from the factory that even before stropping it would pop a hair anywhere along it's lenght. After stropping the hairs nearly fell away touching the edge. Shaving was THE best I've had, using Sheffield, Silver Steel, some other Solingen razors, a U.S. made Ramapo Co (which is extremely nice to shave with even though it's old), a Dovo Best Quality, even a Filarmonica 6/8. The Filarmonica was on loan from Troggie here at the site. We live close to each other. It provided an excellent shave, but you'd have to feel this Revisor to believe what I'm saying. Honest, it's that good!

They also come in Red and Green. Their 6/8 razors are Dynamite!! Have you seen them?

Can't compare Revisor to TI as I've not used a TI but I can tell that, after a little time becoming accustomed to/familiar with it, my big 8/8 Revisor has become my favorite shaver - even edging out my 14 Filly and 14 Palmera. All personal opinion/preference of course but I think you'll enjoy your Revisor.

You wont be disappointed in a revisor. Try to get an older one. Well not really old older. I have 3 revisor and 2 TI. The revisors are buttery smooth and get the "Phontom Hairs" as i call them. The one you can feel but not see.
