Hey all, I'm currently looking for a 8/8 to 13/16 wedge. Any suggestions on a good brand. I have looked at some of the blades available in the classifieds here but unfortunalty everything that I wanted is already sold. Please I need a meat cleaver!!!

If you are asking to buy a razor, that is not allowed on the open forum; you should post a WTB in the classifieds.

If you are asking what brands you are likely to find in those sizes and grinds, you'll most likely be looking at Sheffield blades. I've never met a Sheffield blade I didn't love (except Reynolds - some are such hard steel, and I don't like those at all).

They come up in the classifieds not infrequently. Depending on how deep your pockets are Robert Williams and Mastro Livi make fine custom wedges. Also ebay is an option if you know how to judge condition. The old Sheffield made Wade & Butchers, Greaves, Wostenholm, among others, are all great shavers. Condition is the important thing with ebay though, so if you're unsure, ask for advice.

A word for non-sheffield wedges: The sheffields I've tried were pretty much silent as far as feedback is concerned. The Soligen wedge I still have talks back. I like what it has to say 'Nothing wrong w/ sheffields, but don't think they're the only word on wedges.
