The seller describes them... (Sheffield England)
Scales: By Brantwell. Pressed Horn With Pastoral Design Grind: Wedge
Pins: Brass Maker: Addy + Co.
Container: Wood Coffin W/Floral Paper Liner. External Sleeve Approximate Age: 210-220 Years
Company Documentation: Sheffield Directory of 1797 Blade Height: 5/8
I assume the seller is also a fisherman.
A bit rich based on what I know... which is not a lot.
They have been on Ebay several times. The first time I saw them they were listed for over 900.00 and have been dropping in price each time it gets relisted.
The real value in these are the pressed horn scales that collectors go after. As was mentioned above, these have been re-listed on eBay for months dropping in price each time.
The seller is probably better off just opening them up to auction and let the market dictate what they're worth.
He also states that the lower half 'top layer' of the pressed horn is missing on one razor though this does not affect 'structural integrity'. Affects value a bit though..........
WOW- I never thought that these would garner so much attention,I just saw them and it was stated in the ad that they were very old,I cruise E-bay alot but have never seen these before, and I would have put the rest of the pictures up as they looked to be from anciant Egypt,I wouldnt want to shave with them, thats why I said they might have been used by a Moyal(supposed to be a joke) however they are interisting......
