After reading all the super reviews and seeing all the great pictures of the new Revisors on SRP, I placed my order with Herr Kronenberg for a 5/8 Solingen Extra (5-0003) in blue and a 6/8 Prima Solingen (6-0029). As soon as I get them, I will post pictures.
I am building a seven-day set of new razors (variety of makers), so I selected from those with plain black scales to match the others in the set.
Now the waiting begins!

You lucky dog you. I've been drooling over that website a couple of times. I love the look of their blades, both vintage and new. I've had the pleasure to shave with one as well....which makes going to that website to window shop doubly tough!
I've been eyeing a new revisor for some time now. Someday I'll break down and pull the trigger.

Congratulations!! I have the blue 5-0003 as well as the green 5-0002. I got the blue first and interestingly, I got the latter green one and both it and the blue handeled "Extra Hollow Ground" 5-0027 have jimps on both top and bottom. I attest to their keenness and smooth shave. I also have a GOTTA 120, new from them as well. Most amazing razors I have. Only rival is an Imperial (made in Solingen Germany) "Extra Hollow Ground" on the blade. I shaved with it the other night and it was like most second passes on the first pass. The Revisors are truly one of the overlooked razor out there. Thomas Kronenberg mailed them to me on a Monday and I got them the following Monday. It all depends on how much they hang up in customs.

You are one of the reasons I started looking at Revisors. I read your post and saw the pictures and was hooked. They are beautiful razors. If I were rich, I would build a seven-day set of assorted 5/8 Revisors and a seven-day set of assorted 6/8 Revisors just for their looks.
On your 5-0002 and 5-0003, did you find they needed a lot of honing or did they work well out of the box?
Currently, my favorite razor is a 6/8 Thiers-Issard Le Grelot. I look forward to seeing how the Revisors stack up against the TI.

Mine were good out of the box. I have an email from Thomas that said he was going to give them a honing on the coticule before shipping them out. So there is a very good chance that your's will be recieved good to go out of the box.

Building a 7 day set eh? I started out wanting two blades, then I thought I wanted to get a 7 day set together and I'm currently on the way to a 365 day set at the moment...! :D

Thomas said he would hone them and send them out today, so they should be shave ready! That is good news because I am not qualified or proficient at other than just a Touchup on a barber's hone and basic stropping .Quote:

I've wondered about Swedish and German. My 2 DOVO "Best Quality" say Swedish Steel on the box, yet they came from Solingen Germany. I have a vintage razor that I believe says CM on the one side of the tang and Made in Sweden on the other side. That is a made in Sweden razor, but the Dovo is is Swedish or German? And I have German razors that use Kayser Ellison Best Sheffield Silver Steel, which came from Sheffield England. *S* Please pass the plate..... I'll have a second helping.
I had a discussion about this in another post regarding dubl ducks. The consensus was that the attribution should be where the razor was actually ground and finished. The Dovo would be German. German ground Swedish steel would be German. French ground Sheffield steel would be French. German ground with American name (dubl duck Bresnick) would be German. Apparently, many companies used Swedish and Sheffield steel for some of their razors. Interesting, no?Quote:
