Hi , wondering If anyone has had this razor or hone them, I've seen 1 of their taping knifes of this brand. but never had one. This dude offer me for $35. He doesnt know anything 'bout str8 razor.
I think Im gonna need to hone this before shaving it as I've only started using straight for 7-8 months and just started learning honing from A.Lyn DVD & youtube for about 3 months

Several nice comments about the brand in this thread. Of course, the condition of the blade is also very important. Can't quite determine the condition from the third picture, but it should be serviceable if there isn't much pitting near the edge. Overall, if the blade is in decent condition and isn't warped or something, I'd think a Solingen razor should make a good shaver, and maybe a great shaver.
I don't know anything about that particular brand, but that is a nice-looking razor, and appears to be in good condition. From what I know, most Solingen blades, even the no-name ones, are usually great shavers. I'd get it!
I agree with the others, nice razor if the condition is ok. From the third picture it kinda looks like there is something going on along the edge - it may just be the lighting or some reflex in the image, but I'd look real close at that. You would definitely need to hone it before use, or have it honed for you. Best of luck.
Like the others have said, most any vintage Solingen razor will be a good quality shaver.

They are excellent razors, and you made an excellent buy at that price if it is serviceable. I have one and it will get ridiculously sharp!

Looks like a good deal to me if the blades in good shape. The scales look nice too. I'd go for it and get er honed up. Happy shaves.
Also check out Glenn's honing vid's. I've learned a ton from them, especially the one stone hone method. It really helped me with my bevel setting. Good Luck.Quote:
