This razor is advertised in a local antiques shop. Does anyone know what it is and is it worth restoring..
It looks in poor condition although the blade looks like it would restore ok. I would guess it needs new scales. Maybe someone can make a suggestion on that too?
They are asking $15 for it.. What do you think, wast of time or worth getting and having a go?

For 15 bucks, the box is worth restoring (but really, I'd not give any more than $5 US for that - unless it has some tang stamps that would boggle the mind).
It's all in the eye of the beholder tho... you'll pay what you think it's worth... just like everybody else.
What I'd spend 5 bucks of my disposable income on... somebody else might spend 30 or more.

i went to the store a few weeks ago and they originally had it up for $25 so i didn't bother having a look at it. It looks cheap what ever it is.
I was thinking the same thing $5, but i thought.. maybe someone will say it's a good blade if they are restored or something lol i can only hope.

Well... you found your shop... now you just have to 'hone' your shopkeeper...
The guy obviously visits every sale, flea market, ect within hundreds of miles... frequently. He has many more contacts than you do.
Step one is letting him know you'll give him 5 bucks for that blade he got for 50 cents and you'll be a regular customer if he finds any others.
Suddenly 'your boy' is out there looking for and finding vintage razors - which number in the gabillions all over the planet. He didn't have a market before he met you, but you're willing to pay 5 bucks for them - even if they suck.
and sometimes they don't suck.

...and when I took it back to the guy I bought it from and told him what I wanted - vintage razors to shave with - they're now on his radar screen. He suddenly knows what's too far gone and what I'll buy.
I actually got my last from them, it was a Bengal and it came up quite nice. I sent an e-mail asking if there is a brand on this razor but they haven't gotten back to me yet. I wish i had a better look when i was there last time but for $25 i didn't think it was worth looking at lol
