I'm also with JimmyHAD on this one. Deep sharp jimps and a thumbnotch make for better ergonomics. My only brand-new razor, a Dovo stainless, has cosmetic jimps only. They're too smooth to be of any use, except to look jimpy. I don't mind the trouble of cleaning them at all.
I have to throw my hat in the must have jimps ring also,they absolutely add to the grip and help to avoid any slips,like having checkering on the front strap of a .45,necessary,no,useful -YES. IMHOQuote:

I guess we all have a choice if we can separate ourselves from the dollars that it takes to exercise it.
The only place my antique razor has any sign of rust at all is where the jimps extent through the scales (top and bottom) which have no purposeful reason to be there, if one is to jimp a razor make sure they are not going to extent through scales as it is just creating a trap for debris and moisture to collect and is the most difficult place to clean.
In fact I have tried to scrub the rust away with oil and a toothbrush but it still remains and I do not want to scrub too hard in fear of damaging and loosening the scales.
