Holy Mackerel!
Soon my friend, soon. Within a month hopefully.
I'm guessing either Texas Longhorn or Ankole-Watusi. Inquiring minds, etc.
I'm going to guess loxodonta africana. Just a guess though. Ankole Watusi have black tipped horns, I believe.
That's a beautiful horn, good luck. Can't wait to see the finished goods!
How much does that tusk weigh? Surely one man can't use all of that ivory by himself...
That's a nice looking horn for sure.
On the small side,80 lbs.

Just my 2 cents, but the very tip of that would make a beautiful brush handle. Nice score, and even overwhelmingly masculine pair of cajones to cut it up.
I'm curious. What is the history of that tusk?
Trophy hunted and legally imported to the U.S in 1927,and one can make fantastic shaving brushes out of Ivory.

I've got some polar bear hair that might make a fantastic shaving brush in that handle. Not the thing for international travel, but still a fantastic brush.
Damn, can't get a decent picture of my original dodo scuttle...lousy siberian tiger camera's....
If you ever consider getting rid of some, please PM me. I've been wanting to do up a long handled brush in some. Now I've gotta look at Boone Trading Post again...my wallet does NOT thank you right now...but I do!
Thats a monster walrus tusk, animal was as big as a prius:)
Legal for me to own but because it is white I cannot even legally give it away:(about 33 in long.
