Just wanted to poke some eyes out and flaunt my most recent acquisitions, huzzah!.

Came in this very morning, cleaned it up a bit and after some minor honing shaved with it today, when I got hit by a gigantic two pass BBS; my stuble is still in intesive care.

I think horn scales, not sure if they're original. If they are, they're in remarkable shape, although at some point I might have to repin it, since the blade enters the scales slightly diagonally. The blade needs some guiding in, doesn't sit against the scale so I'm not in too much of a hurry, maybe I'll just leave it, since it does sit tight after a 100 or so degrees angle.
Also some restorer shined it up a bit too bright for my taste, but that's really all I can find to actually complain about.

Had it for a couple of weeks now, was a female dog to hone, so I only picked it up today. I'll have to see tomorrow how she shaves.

I always like to end on a high, so here's a major bummer. Three weeks ago I won a nice La Verte coticule in an auction, seller threw in another coticule I was also interested in because the shipping was kinda high.....either the Dutch or Finnish mail messed up big time, no one has any idea where it is. I hope it will pop up sometime soon or even be returned to sender, because this limbo just blows. :mad::banghead:

Sorry to hear about your dilemma, but the scales on that John Barber are incredible!!

Well, the coti's are located, the Dutch mail must have started to use some crappy new automatic system, because it couldn't recognise the address (which was correct, seller got it right too). It's going return to sender now, got to figure out a way to send it so it doesn't get lost.

And I put the scales in some beeswax for a day, buffed it up with a rag, getting rid of the excess wax, looks almost like new, better than in the picture. Smell nice, too :)
