    Default BFR

I found this Big Fine Razor in an antique (junk) store a couple of days ago. The blade is 7/8, the spine is 3/16s. Heaviest razor I've seen yet. No makers or proof marks at all. When I started to give it the arm hair test, it started popping hairs before I got to the skin. This sucker is sharp! Shaves nicely, too, but I will have to get used to handling such a big razor...

Nice find! I don't think you'll find it hard to get used to at all. The only place you'll find interesting at first is under the nose, but even that is eminently doable with some practice.

Not in my experience . In fact I don't think I ever had one . I suppose some would slip through without being stamped . If it's a good shaver , then it's a good razor . It doesn't really matter much , who made it . Considering the fact that you bought the razor at a antique store , and it was shave ready , without being advertized as such . I think there's a chance that a barber may have owned that razor .

I have had or seen several unmarked vintage razors and they were good. I would stay away from anything newer that was unmarked.

That's a "different" looking razor -- the tang is sort of short and fat, with no stabilizer, square at the heel.... do you suppose someone was experimenting in one of the shops? Of course, I won't be surprised if a dozen guys post pics of razors configured the same way. Just looks "different" to me.

I picked up this saber, 2 WH Morleys and a Bismarck. All are ( in my very limited experience) sharp enough to shave with now. All 4 were sitting together. This one just struck me as unusual, and unusually sharp.

Please note. It isn't a 'Saber' brand razor, but it is suitable to repel boarders...
