I have a couple. Nice razor when honed up properly.
I've had 3, all well finished, all easy to hone, never a problem. Most were made in Germany, but apparently not all. The one I have right now doesn't state origin. In line for tear-down and re-finish, even though it shaves great. HSB was what morphed in True Value hardware.
Just an opinion -- I've never met a real vintage razor that was made as "junk". Craftsmanship was the norm in those old shops, crap generally didn't make it to market.

You're right. Because craftsmen cherished their reputation.Quote:

Ok, so it wasn't a compendium of information, but they were the first things I looked at when I wanted to know about my HSB. I wasn't trying to do ALL the work. Just give a starting point. What's Mr hoo anyways? I'm trying to figure out if I should be offended here. lol Can you link an advert so I can start my mr hoo search?
Thanks, that helps.
I brought my 2nd HSB home last wkend. My first was humbly dressed, with woodgrain cellulose scales, shank and tang. It was not stored well but served for honing practice. In spite of remaining pits, the shave caught my attention. It was excellent. 'Just a smooth and very friendly razor. This 2nd one I brought home was much more fancy, and quite pristine. I paid more for it than any unrestored razor - it needs nothing but a ride on the stones. I have great expectations for it. That first razor got my attention enough that I pursue any HSB that can be made shaveable.
