Antique Straight Razor
I was at an estate sale today and purchased an antique razor with pictures of naked ladies on the handle. Very cool! On one side of the blade is marked, "K.H. Stephan & Sons, Worcester, Mass., Made in Germany" and the other side is marked, "Aeroplane". On the handle - one side is marked "Awakening" (I believe this may be the name of the photograph) and the other side is reads "S. Chillemi" (owner? photographer?)
It appears that the blade was broken and filed down on the end...still very sharp, though.
I've been looking all afternoon on the internet and can find no information on "Aeroplane" or a handle with "nekid" ladies. Can anyone help me with additional info? Thanks so much!

There was one of these on ebay a few months back, seems more like a novelty razor than anything. I can't recall the info on it. But you might find it by doing an advanced search on ebay and looking at ended auctions. Neat scales, but I don't fancy shaving myself with a picture of my great great grandmother in the nude looking back at me...

As you begin to age past 50, 1971 Wedge, grandmother starts looking younger and younger.

My guess is that this was originally a pair of scales made by Novelty Cutlery, Canton, Ohio. They were most known for picture handle knives and razors.
As to S. Chillemi via Ancestry.com the 1938 City Directory for New Haven, Conn. lists a barber named Salvatore Chillemi at 330 Ashmun street. Perhaps the razor and many others were made for him.Last edited by redrover66; 11-20-2011 at 04:20 AM. Reason: correct date
