I've come across a T. NOONAN & SON Black Demon Straight Razor for a pretty reasonable price at an antique shop. I did some googling, but I haven't found much other than they were made in MA from 1901-1960. I'm looking for a shaver, so what it is worth is not quite as important as if T Noonan & Son made quality razors.
Anyone have experience with these?
I have honed a few of the Black Demons, and a couple of other Noonan's , they are a good solid American razor... Take and hold a very sharp edge.
If the price seems fair for the condition of the razor I would buy one....

I've owned one Noonan 11/16 spike point full hollow and it took an edge just as good as any american/solingen in this category. There are many bargains to be had in these style of blades as I've found most American razors fitting this bill to represent good overall value.
Definitely a decent razor and as indicated, if in decent condition and a fair price, grab it. I have owned and honed a few of these and all have been nice.

Have/have had, several Noonans,they have all been top tier blades,all have been german made.
Wonder if Noonan was just a Distributor.

I have just purchased a Noonan Black Demon and have another Black Demon in my rotation too, except it's not a Noonan, it has a Texas stamp on it, can't recall the manufacturer. Great razors.
I really like mine. I am still new to this hobby but have about a dozen (all antique finds), Bokers, Torreys, Genco, Pruitan and the T Noonan fits right in. I think the cost was less than $50 but I didn't have to clean any rust off before I used it. Attachment 85034
