    Default My 3 workhorses

These are my 3 workhorses that I used for over 10 years.
The black scale one is an old vintage Wade & Butcher
The white one is a Hoffritz High Class
And the Tortoise is a Robert Klaas.
Unfortunately the Robert Klaas has some mild cupping on the blade. Ahhh sins of my youth. But all I would say need to be rehoned. My question is this. Should I send them out or just do it myself . And if I send them out where is the best place??
    Thanks

Unless you have the stones and knowledge, I would send them out to be honed. Check the Classifieds and in the "Member Services" you'll find quite a few members who offering honing services at reasonable rates. Just send a few PM's and then decide who to send the razors to. Or send each one to a different member so you can compare the end results.

edit: I've had my razors honed by three different members here at various times and have been extremely happy with each, so I don't think you can go wrong.

Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

What have you been doing with them for the last 10 years? I mean, were they never honed in the past 10 years?

But I agree with RS, send a couple Pm's and make a decision. Check the member services in the classifieds.

They sat in a drawer for the last 10 years. Have not been honed, stopped, or even glanced at. So with that being said I've decided to send them out to be done and in the meantime I found a vintage Thiers Issard that has been freshly honed for sale. I will utilize that until mine arrive back. I was considering selling the Robert Klaas with the tortoise scales. Don't know what it's worth though

Is it torotise or dyed horn? I honestly don't know.

Probably won't get anyone to put a price tag on it here in the open forum. It's kind of frowned on at SRP. As a rule, we don't do valuations. Put it up in the classifieds at a price you can live with, then see if anyone buys it. If they do, then both people are happy. If not, then lower until they do buy. Simple.

Happy to see you're getting them all honed. Get those puppies back into shape!

Yeah it was my first razor. I think I will have it honed first and then determine if I want to part with it.

Should note that the Klaas was purchased new in the mid 80s.

Beautiful workhorses! Are they still working fine? Happy shavings.

Yes, sending them all out to be re-honed. After the 1st of the year
