Just received a new TI Oak Wing for Christmas, it's an absolutely beautiful razor except for four resin filled holes on one of the scales. Is this common?
I talked to the vendor and they said this is common with TI.
Need advice.
Thanks

quality pictures would help in answering this question
Just took a looked at mine and I see no resin filled holes. Can you post a pic of this ? Bottom line, one way or another, if I wasn't happy with the scales, and I hadn't yet used the razor, I would ask to send it back for an exchange.
+1 on pictures, I'd like to see what they did.
I checked mine also and no extra filled holes.
At the cost of these I agree with Jimmy, I'd be asking for a replacement.

I've never heard of that from TI before. Maybe it's something else?
Bring on the pictures.
I had one and passed it along. There were no holes in the scales that did not belong there.
Hi Guys. Thanks for the input here are a few pictures as suggested. What are your thoughts?Attachment 85991Attachment 85992
Those are very unsightly and, given the premium cost of those razors, quite unacceptable. I'd contact the vendor and do an exchange or get a refund. Common or not, the vendor should know better than to sell products like this, or should at the very least offer it at a discounted price.
If you're not happy with a razor use the return/exchange policy. It don't think it matters if this is a common occurrence or not, all that matters is whether the razor meets your expectations.
This thread is going in two places :td
Here is the answer from the Workshop I gave
When the wood is stabilized (Resin Impregnated) it is designed to fill any voids in the wood with resin , that is actually the entire reason to do it.. This makes for a Homogenized working surface that is strong, and waterproof..
Basically you are turning wood to plastic but you have to keep in mind that I doubt that TI hand makes scales, and I doubt that they check the surface look of the scales, and we know they don't check the fit...
At the price you paid for the razor, if you haven't used it, and don't like it, then exchange it... -but- resin filled holes in stabilized wood is not actually a defect, it is what the process is designed to do they just cut yours at a spot where it is not visually appealing to you...
