Revisor 8/8
I am thinking I will buy a NEW razor. So I have been hearing a lot of good things about Revisor. I until now have never heard of this company but I figure I would invest in one. I dont know how they compare to Dovo, Hart, Boker, etc. But here is a pic of the one im thinking of.

That is one beautiful razor! Very showy and classy. I'm afraid to ask how much the going rate is for one of those.

According to the Euro conversion it computes to $258.00. But Im leary of ordering it. I emailed them and here is the reply I got
"Dear Mr. Kuziel,
thank you very much for your inquiry.
We sell our razors exclusive without resellers oder distributors.
For a binding order please send your postaladress and you will get an invoice.
regards
So I emailed them back as to what I wanted and now Im waiting. Like I said a tranaction like this especially overseas makes me cringe. My girl ordered me a book from Storm Thorgenson who did all the artwork for Pink Floyd November of last year and guess what??? Still NOT here and apparently it is lost in Customs!!! Yeah Im not feeling it

Revisor is an old and very well respected maker of quality straight razors. Unfortunately they went out of business many years ago. The razors being newly manufactured is a case of someone buying the name and making razors with the old name on them. I've never handled the new ones so I can't comment on how they compare to the vintage but I do have vintage Revisors and they are top tier. I would imagine the new ones are certainly quality pieces. I've heard about some QC issues on the new ones but it seems all the modern razors seem to have that.

I have a 8/8 Revisor, the Mungstener Brucke, and that is one great shaver. It came shave ready and without flaws of any kind:)

I have ordered from Revisor three times. It's easier and safer than you think.
You tell him what you want and where you live. He sends you the total bill. You go on Paypal and post a payment to the Revisor email address. He sends you your razor.
Each time I ordered, it took about ten days for it to get to me. My orders arrived by USPS, with signature confirmation. That part can be a PITA because you have to be there to sign for it, but you don't know exactly when it will arrive. However, it is safer because they won't just leave it on your doorstep. Each time, I've had to go to the post office the next day to pick up my razor (you can also leave a note with the postman to reschedule the delivery), but at least I didn't have to worry about someone stealing it off the porch.
Hope that helps.
FYI, Revisors don't always come shave ready. The bevel will be set, but it might need a bit of additional sharpening to finish it (one of my three Revisors was shave ready). Once it's set, though, the shave is outstanding.

I've only honed one of the Friedrich Schmidt Revisor's & it got 2 thumbs up from me. I'd own one in a heartbeat.

Last year I ordered a 8/8" revisor, you don't have to worry about their thrust wordiness, done business with them a number of times. I did have a problem with my 8/8" when it arrived, it was slightly warped. I contacted a few others and let them see the razor, they agreed that there was definitely a warp to it. So I asked Revisor and they let me send the razor back, checked it, honed it again and test shaved it, there was nothing wrong with it they said. But since I was not happy with the razor they just give me a refund, no questions asked. If that's not great service! That's the only time I was not completely happy with something I ordered from them, have never heard from others that I personally know that ordered from them that where unhappy. I'm sure the razor would have shaved great but when spending this kind of money one likes to be completely satisfied.
