I'd take the DD.
I'm a bit biased as I collect DDs. But having both in the rotation I still say DD.
DD Goldedge is #1 on my collectible list.
The only W&B that I know of that is even sorta comparable to the hollow grind DD's is the double hollow *Special*
It is a good shaver but IMHO not quite as good as the DD's
I can't even begin to compare the Heavier W&B grinds to DD's basically apples and oranges
It depends on which model. If I could get a bigger size inclined nose or square point DD, I might take that, but if we're talking a 9/8 W&B Chopper, then that wins for me.
Depends what you want to do with it. For shaving I'll take the DD.
Too hard to compare. I love them both for different reasons. I only shave with 4 W&B's of the 10 or so I own. They are all wedges except for 1. I do shave with 8 of the 12 DD's I own. They are all full hollows except one.
DD's are much easier to work with (hone) but there isn't much variance in the blade style. W&B make so many unique blades in all shapes and sizes. Some of the coolest looking razors I own are W&B's.
For Shaving - the Duck, if there were no Engels or very hollow Genco around.
For splitting wood, opening letters, prying lits off paint cans, The heavy sheffields are unparalleled. 'Had one of the specials Glen mentioned. Truthfully it was a good razor, but sheffields are my least fav. (can you tell?)
Heavy Sheffields were invented so magistrates could give them out as sentences for capital crimes. "Set the bevel on this, or its the gallows for you".
As above^^^ they do not have the macho of there big Brothers, but damn fine shavers.

They aren't difficult in skills required - beyond honing a smiling blade, but take forever.
The entire rest of the world (except Glen) loves Sheffields. I'm an oddball here. Members that send them for honing say they like the edges, but they never feel right on my face. Deaf & Dumb. Most have very little or no audible or tactile feedback.
If you've never tried one, you owe it to yourself. They're unique, and most people love them.
Pinklather: Just letting you know you aren't alone. I am also on you and Glenn's side, of the rest of the world.
