Which of your razors shaves most comfortable, and takes and holds the best edge out of your collection?
My wackers #1,#2 my japanese westerns.
torrey
trud
friodur
l'elan
sofar my 5mm large hone wear workhorse, the #60 Charlex..
but seeing as that's my ONLY razor i've got at this moment (3 others are en-route).. this isn't very helpful information :P
Le Coultre
Old Timor "Special" (Way before the new grinds out, they used to make a decent razor)
Kamisori fixed blade. I have no idea what it say on it, but it keeps a serious edge.
My most comfortable shaver is my J Waostenholm EBRO. As far as edge retention, just about any of my American blades and my vintage Bismark fit the bill quite well.
Revisor would be the best. Filly right up there to.
Believe it or not, a Chronik is probably the sharpest , 'best' , I've got. OTOH, I've got too many to really make the call. Rotate through too many too often to really judge. That Chronik blew my mind though, it was so good. Anyway, I believe most all quality razors, correctly honed, are close in performance. If not equal, certainly close to it. YMMV.
Carl Schlieper, Mappin & Webb
Best edge: Der Schulze
longest lasting shavable edge: Dovo bismark (seriously did about 3.5 months of every day shaving before it needed honed)
Henckels Friodur INOX
Feather SS
Although I would say that my answer on this would hold more weight as my experience level grows, I seem to hold the best edge on my 1800 Clark and Hall wedge, followed by a pre-18xx (no "England" on the tang) Wade and Butcher wedge... third up probably a Heljistrand.
That my two longest-holding edges are both wedges may be more of a comment on my particular (peculiar?) honing abilities, as a majority of my collection (40+/-) are German full, half and quarter hollows. Go figure.
My best edge definitely belongs to my baby, a near new 8/8 Blue Wonder, which also holds its edge extremely well. Close second would be and old beat up Henckels 50 that's got a decent amount of hone wear, staining, and has been worn down to a 4/8. Sure, it aint much of a looker, but hell I just love it to death.
My Puma #69. It might not look pretty, but it is a joy to shave with.
For some reason, my Henckels #38 never seems to need honing and is always a guaranteed DFS. Strop-Friendly, I suppose!
My C-Mon wedge.
I'm not dead yet!! We are getting down to it.....Henckels 38!
Dead heat: C.V. Heljestrand and Imperial Extra Hollow Ground. Both seem to just get sharper with stropping and use. Once they do start to dull a quick touch up once or twice a year and they're right back in the ball game.
got a old beat to hell puma#9 more rust than razor when i found her . still looks like 5 miles of bad road. but oh what a edge i cant feel this razor on my face seem the less presure i use the closer the shave. dont have anything else ( and i have a few) that comes close
Wacker
Revisor
Genco wedge
It's difficult to pick just one.....

xMackx,
The nicest shaving razor I have is my Genco Fluid Steel; the longest lasting edges are on my TI C135 steel half-hollow 5/8.
Have fun !
Best regards
