Need help with purchasing new razor.

Hey everyone

I wanted to switch from my dovo shavette to a real straight razor and decided to purchase the dovo silver steel razor from SRD with the strop included. It turns out that they are out of stock and I can't seem to find that razor in stock on any other site. Can anyone recommend a different razor around the same price range ($150 with strop) that is good quality with a non plastic handle? I was looking at the dovo spike blade from SRD but am not really sure about the blade differences.

I went with the Boker King Cutter. It sounded like a pretty good razor for the money.

I love my Vintage Boker's! I am not sure if there is a difference in feel with the new ones...all mine are 80+ years old. I really want an Edelweiss, but not in the finances right now so who knows when I can put the old vs new to the test :) . I hope it treats you well!

If you give SRD a call I'm sure they will match you up with a razor that meets you desire and budget or give you some idea as to when the razors will come back in stock. They are really good guys!

In your original post you stated you wanted a non-plastic handle - if this is still important to you, you may want to rethink your choice. In the description the scale material is stated as "synthetic."

I'm sorry but I think I just bought the last one from SRD lol....I ordered it yesterday! I found it kind of weird seeing that you said they were out of stock...I got an email today sayin it shipped....As for looking at another one...how bout the dovo astrale??? its very nice and similar in price

You can no longer get a zodiac inlay with those, which really takes away from the appeal of the Astrales.

Yea but I believe the synthetic will have a pretty durable feel. I just didn't want a cheap plastic like my current dovo shavette. I'll let you know how it feels quality wise once I receive it.

haha yea you probably did. Oh well I think I will enjoy my new Boker King Cutter just as much.
