Corneta Razor. Information requested.

Can anyone tell me about this razor? I bought this razor a few years ago and just recently have had the desire to use it, but know nothing about it. I'm not really interested in the value of it just quality. The value is probably low anyway with the bit of pitting on the back. I'll list what it says incase anyone has trouble reading the engravings on the razor. The lettering on the blade says Corneta with the number 2768 and an engraved bugle next to it. The back of the tang has this written on it "GEBR. WEYERSBERG" on the first line and below that "SOLINGEN - OHLIGS".Attachment 91986Attachment 91987Attachment 91988Attachment 91989
Is it one to keep for a shaver or to practice honing with? Or something else entirely.

I have one of these and agree that it is a quality razor!

The company was situated at Wilhemstrasse 29 in Solingen-Ohligs and was founded in 1778, entering the Solingen register as a normal company in 1868 and as a forging company in 1888. They had a large variety of makers marks and found their way on and off the register a number of times, presumably as old marks ceased to be used and new ones appeared. One of the oldest businesses in Solingen.

Gebrüder Weyersberg was founded on 1st January 1787 by the brothers Wilhelm, Peter and Johann-Ludwig Weyersberg. The company initially manufactured large quantities of knife ans sword blades - indeed, it's recorded that in 1786 the Weyersberg family had produced 17% of Solingen's blades - and with the receipt of orders from France and Italy, a permanent blade store was established in 1788 at Frankfurt am Main. With the death in 1793 of Wilhelm Weyersberg his widow remained one of the company's shareholders and in 1816 her son-in-law, Karl-Reinhard Berg, also joined the company.
When Peter Weyersberg died in 1829 the business passed to his son Albert and Gustav Berg, son of Karl, and in due course the company passed to their sons Hermann and Fritz. With the sudden death in 1883 of Hermann Weyersberg, the firm amalgamated with W.R. Kirschbaum & Cie to form Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie.(WKC, registered 9th May 1930, the company is still in business)
Gebrüder Weyersberg was reformed on 1st May 1902 by Richard Berg, and in 1922 was managed by his sons Richard, Eugen, Hans and Fritz. In 1908 the Walder branch of Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie was sold to the new Gebrüder Weyersberg; managed under the name of Solingener Axt- & Hauerfabrik GmbH, the plant was moved in the following year to Solingen-Ohligs.

Hi I'm new to these forums. I have one of these razors myself. Reading about Corneta and Gebr. Weyersberg confused me.

Does anyone know the dates these razors could have been made?

Thats a great Razor,If you want to use it than have it pro honed and enjoy

Thanks. Yeah I plan to get it ready to use soon. I just picked it up today actually, had the original box too. I'm just trying to figure out what date it could have been made. It looks pretty old.
