My great grandfathers razor that I now shave with

here is the richard & conover razor that belonged to my great grandfather. i had it honed by nun2sharp and it shaves great. i really enjoy being able to use something that was my great grandfathers even though i never got to meet him or my grandfather. one thing ive noticed is that my scales are kinda unique to the standards of the time. most are one color and simply smooth. mine are green as you can see but what you cant see in the photos is that there is a owl on one side and a egg on the other. thanks for looking

That's great, I also have shaving gear from my Father and grandfather. There is something very special about using things that our relatives also used!!

Congrats! Heirloom razors are indeed a treasure. I never knew my great Grandfather either, but his razor is in my rotation too. It's a link to my family's past that I will pass on to my kids. Don't ever give her up.

Way cool. I am jealous. I felt lucky when I got my Grandfather's (he raised me) shaving mug and I use it every day. I still remember hearing the clinking of his brush handle against the sides of the mug when he stirred up lather growing up. It's really great when you have a link to your forebearers.

yea i really enjoy it even though i know nothing about him except his name. but the razor seems to shave pretty good considering not a german magic steel or anthing like that but seems to hold a great edge. i really want to get some mwf soap i think i will like it. my van der hagen gets really dry and sticky on my face no matter what i try.
