Not only is it possible,it is alot of fun.
I figured the neck area would be a problem so I'm guessing it's not
As Paul the apostle said, "All things are legal for me, but not all things are profitable." :tameshigiri: :rofl2:
Yes, it is possible. Look here.
As my Grandfather was fond of saying: "It is only the bad craftsman whom blames his tools".
Instead of buying another razor I would suggest that you practice with the ones you already got.
I've read somewhere that Joseph Rodgers made a 12/8 razor.. yet to see one but the hunt continues!
If you were the one that got that Tillitson 8/8 this morning I'm cranky with you.....well not really, I just thought it would look better in my cupboard.
If you have an 8/8 that you don't like just send it to me and I'll mind it for you until you need it back.....really I will....honest
I've got a 10/8 that Brian Brown mad for me. It's a fantastic shaver and you really don't notice the size when you shave with it.

Soon to be up in the rotation in a week or two depending on my mood I present my Kenny Powell Army theme 13/8 in A2 steel. VERY well balanced and easy to shave with. Its the stropping that is difficult. The EJ Barley is there as a size reference.
Paul
Wow I love the army theme I was a 31 bravo mp lead the way
I've shaved with this and survived:

That's correct, and when I received it from Ebay I was very surprised regarding its size. I bid on it because Otto and Reynders were active only
around the Civil War. Because it was so well-proportioned, I was blown away by how big it was. It is also extremely heavy at 5.7 ounces.
I am not sure why but the huge razors like w&b and these customs are very appealing to my eyes i just love them. and the big thick spine is great. i have only used one 7/8 w&b briefly and it was awesome . i was tolt the big razors are the race cars of the razor 8world..... well it turns out i love going fast lol. i cant wait to be able to buy one. i dont want to gt to much money in a razor colection. right now i have richards & conover 5/8, boker 5/8 and w&b 6/8 , id really like to finish off with a big heavy 8/8 make is not important . but a w&b would be great. they seem kinda pricey though i think ill have to wait tell after my wedding to get one lol unless somebody wants to give me an early gift. lol. oh and about that big otto!!! good thing i dont own it cuz first thing i would do is take it to kelly aka nun2sharp and have him put his magic touch to it and then.............................................. .......... well you all know what comes next, razors are made to shave with and i would have to try it once. few little nicks never hurt anybody. i bet a guy could even set a world record by shaving with the biggest straight razor ever!!!
yea ill just have to wait and see now money for anything right now. but that is the one razor i want in my rotation.
Yep Ace was indeed brave to swipe his face with that one.
Would be interesting to see how long it took him, and how many fingers he had afterwards.
As for setting world records our very own Bruno would be a candidate for that honour.
He honed and shaved with an actual axe head:- http://straightrazorpalace.com/honin...out-dmt-3.html
never tried an axe head, that be pretty dang tough to do. but i did use a kitchen knife for my fist single blade shave. a 7 " santuko . worked ok. ended up with only one small nick. although it did cut the hair it was far from being razor sharp.
I have to say that I am impressed!!!
I was waiting for the 'fools pass' though....hehehehehe
I suspect that this would be called a 'dreadnought' or 'spanish' point.
Either way - good job
love the gunshots going off in the background at 10:35!!!
