At long last I have won my honing battle with this Tally-Ho!

It was a full restore and I decided to go with honey ox horn scales that I think turned out pretty nice, but honing it was the bane of my existence for the longest time. It seemed that no matter what combination I tried of stones, strokes, angles, pressure, etc., the thing would just not take an edge. And then behold, there was an edge and it was good.
So for the first time I have entered the world of big honkin' Sheffield blades. I expected the thing to sound differently when shaving, but I couldn't believe just how quiet it was. And I also have a newfound respect for the ability of heavy blades to cut things you don't necessarily intend to cut, sending me digging for that styptic that I hadn't used for ages. :)
Nice to experience a whole new kind of blade, and great incentive to get to work on more scales for the other blades I have on hold.
