Found this on an online antique shop. At first I was puzzled by the stamp on the tang but I did my research on here and found out that there was a C. Christoffersen who resided at 1727 Girard Ave. N. Minneapolis, Minn who sold razors from the 1920s-1940s. The seller dates the razor to the 1930s and it is German made. Here is what shocked me the most: The pins are as tight and the razor sits in between the scales better than my new Dovo. Not only that, it came almost shave ready! It shaved arm hair so I figured I'd see if it can shave facial hair. I stropped it a few dozen times and tried a WTG pass...amazing! Although there was tugging and pulling, it gave a decent WTG shave. The blade is in great condition, just some staining. There is evidence that a lot of it was covered in gold wash, at least all of the tang. She's a smalle one, 9/16ish, but performs great. The scales are in really good condition too. If it really is from the 1930s, some took really good care of it. She's off to Max for new red transparent acryllic scales, restoration, and a full honing. All I know is that when she's fully restored, this will definetely be one of my best/favorite razors! Anybody can give me more info on the Red Gopher, please do!
